Dr. Robert (Bob) A. Meintrup II

Dr. Robert (Bob) A. Meintrup II completed his earthly journey on Thursday, February 16, 2023, at the age of 72. Bob was born on January 7, 1951, in Fayetteville, Arkansas, but he lived most of his life in Edwardsville, Illinois. For the past several years, he resided in St. Charles, Missouri and attended First Baptist Church.

Bob graduated from Edwardsville High School in 1969. He earned his degree in chemical engineering from the University of Illinois, Champaign, and he went on to study dentistry at the University of Chicago and earned his D.D.S.

Bob practiced dentistry for many years, but his true passion was cars, and that experience led to a career conducting product training for Lexus and other automobile companies. He spent his weekends racing cars competitively, sailing, and flying sail planes. Later in life, he could often be found honing his marksmanship skills at the local gun range.

Bob is survived by his loving wife, Sandra (Steele) Meintrup; her children, Heather (John) Vogt and Patrick McGraw; and her three grandchildren. He is also survived by his former wife, Susan (Gene) Seibel; her daughter, Shelly (Chris) Yates; her four grandsons; his son, Robert A. (SuzAnne) Meintrup III, and his grandchildren, Riley and Lukas. Also surviving is his sister, Tana (Mike) Coy, and his nephew, Matthew Coy.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Robert A. Meintrup, Sr. and Betty Sue (Vaught) Meintrup of Muscatine, Iowa.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, February 23rd, 4-7 p.m., and Friday, February 24th, 9:30-10:30 a.m. followed by the funeral at 10:30 a.m. at Baue Funeral Home on 311 Wood Street in O’Fallon, MO. A private family graveside service will take place at Fairmount Cemetery in Middletown, MO.
