Betty Louise Moser was born in Columbia Falls, Montana on May 21, 1937, to William and Ella Harrison. However, Betty was raised in Salem, Oregon. She had two sisters, Beverly Petersen, now deceased, of Oregon City, Oregon and Jeanette Deems of Scottsdale, Arizona and one brother, William Harrison, II, now deceased, of Orlando, Florida. Betty was confirmed at St. John Lutheran Church in Salem, Oregon, on May 27, 1951. At that time Betty felt called to go into the teaching ministry and attended Concordia College in Portland, Oregon, where she met her husband, Carl Jerome Moser.
Carl and Betty were married August 10, 1958, at St. John Lutheran Church in Salem, Oregon. Her first teaching assignment, after two years of college, was to Salem Lutheran Church in Homewood, Illinois, teaching grades 1-4 in a two-room school. Betty went on to complete her education and received her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Central Florida, Orlando, Florida and her Master’s degree from Concordia University, River Forest, Illinois.
Carl and Betty were blessed with three children, Stephen (Mindy) Moser of Springfield, Linda (Brian) Becker of St. Peters, Missouri and Cynthia (Jeff) Kunze of Olathe, Kansas. They were blessed with nine grandchildren: Andrew Moser, Valerie (Tyson) Connor, Elle ( Daniel) Stark, Charissa Moser; Brittany Becker, Jennifer (Jason) Becker, Ashley Kunze, Tana (Jeremy) Richards and Madison (Sam) Phipps. They were also blessed with three great-grandchildren, Aria, Britten and Amberleigh.
Betty was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, St. Charles, Missouri, where she taught kindergarten for twelve years and served as a member of the orchestra, Bible Studies, Stephen Ministry, Merry Pairs, Naomi Circle and Dorcas Sewing Ministry.
Betty’s confirmation verse was Matthew 24:13, “He (she) that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.”
