Barbara Louise "Barbie" Perkins (née Brown) of St. Charles, MO passed away Tuesday, October 13, 2026, at the age of 88. Beloved wife of Howard W. Perkins, cherished daughter of the late Marjorie E. Brown; devoted mother of Michael Wayne Perkins, Gregory Scott (Valerie) Perkins and Robert Douglas (Jean) Perkins; loving grandmother of Jessica Perkins, Brenden (Shannon) Perkins, Kyle Perkins and Kiersten Perkins; great-grandmother of Olivia Behlmann and Joey Behlmann.
Barbara served many generations of St. Charles County residents as a trusted and respected real estate agent, building lasting relationships and helping countless individuals and families find a place to call home.
In addition to her real estate career, Barbara played an integral role in the redevelopment and revitalization of Historic Main Street, helping to shape it into the cherished destination it is today. Through her dedication, vision and commitment to the community, she left a lasting mark on the area and helped preserve its unique character.
Outside of her professional life "Barbie" found joy in her home and family. She loved to decorate, especially for the holidays. Every Christmas, the tree was bedecked with a treasured collection of ornaments, and every surface held mementos and trinkets from days gone by. Each gift was a piece of art, wrapped carefully and adorned with a matching, handmade bow.
She enjoyed cooking, often treating our family to meals inspired by Southern Living magazine. Baking was also a favorite activity, and her cherry pies were gourmet quality, the highlight of every family gathering. Her Santa Face Cookies were legendary at the grade school Christmas parties.
Barbie loved with her whole heart. Whether it was her Howie, her boys, her daughters-in-law, her grandkids or her great-grandchildren, she was never happier than when one, or all of them were around. She was fun, she was kind, she was a force to be reckoned with, and her smile was contagious.
It's impossible to summarize 88 years of living, in a few brief paragraphs, especially when that life was lived to the fullest. Barbie did just that. Even when her memories were fading, she always remembered her Howie. They were devoted to each other for 70 years, and their love was as strong in the beginning as in the end as it was on day one.
We were blessed to know her and to be loved by her, because when Barbie loved you, it was forever.
Memorials may be made in Barbara's name to Alzheimer's Association.
