Barbara Guthrie

March 2, 1944 — September 29, 2025

St. Charles, Missouri

Barbara Guthrie, of Saint Charles, MO, passed away Monday, September 29, 2025 at the age of 81. Cherished daughter of the late James Sr., and the late Dorothy Guthrie; devoted mother of Shari (Dean) Marshall, Paul (Sharon) Medlin, Jr., Steve (Angie) Medlin, Carrie (Randy) Glossup, Jon Medlin, Holly (Daniel) Moses, Henry (Angie) Medlin and the late Patrick Medlin; loving grandmother of Michael, Nicole, Anthony, Nicholas, Kristen, Jeffrey, Patrick, Jr., Hannah, Edward, William, Ryan, Jake, Savanna, Thomas and Gwenyth; treasured great-grandmother of thirteen; dear sister of the late James L. Guthrie, Jr.; Cousin to Judy Lawler, Jack Lawler and other cousins. Barbara is also an aunt and friend to many.

Barbara’s life was a quiet symphony of compassion—always the first to offer a hand, a heart, or a home, she gave of herself endlessly, leaving behind a legacy stitched together by the lives she touched. Barbara dedicated eight faithful years to the St. Joseph Cottleville School, before devoting her heart and energy to raising her children and supporting her family. She was a devoted member of St. Cletus Catholic Church and previous member of St. Charles Borromeo. Barbara volunteered at the St. Peters and St. Charles Senior Centers, where she served as President of Activities and was always eager to lend a hand with fundraisers or call out numbers for Bingo. In her free time, Barbara enjoyed quilting, crafting, embroidery, gardening and canning. She will be remembered for always making the best Christmas cookies, a sweet tradition her family will cherish forever. A true sports fan, she never missed a St. Louis Blues or Cardinals game and loved watching all kinds of sports. She also deeply cherished her beloved animals and touched the lives of everyone she met with her warmth and generosity. Barbara was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Barbara's name to Five Acres Animal Shelter or Mass Cards.
