Arlene Capasso (née Glassman), 90, of Webster Groves, MO, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 8, 2025. She is lovingly remembered by her devoted husband, Michael Capasso; her children, David (Tracy Renee) Capasso and Elizabeth Capasso-Gulve (Mike Lampe) and her cherished grandchildren—Gabriel and Nate Capasso, Michael and Anthony (Caroline) Gulve—as well as her dear great-granddaughter, Violet Gulve. Arlene also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and other beloved family members.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Louis and Esther Glassman; her seven brothers—Murray, Seymour, Harold, Phillip, Benjamin, Rudolf, and Hyman Glassman—and her four sisters, Lillian Blumenthal, Helen Baron, Francis Glassman and Sylvia Lasky.

Arlene was a dedicated member of the Sheepshead Bay Women’s Club in Brooklyn, NY. Her career as a Masters level social worker involved caring for psychiatric patients at Downstate Medical Center in Brooklyn and counseling high school students in the New York City Public School System. She was a lifelong member of the United Federation of Teachers Union (UFT/AFT). Arlene was a passionate advocate for women’s rights, civil rights and human rights and tirelessly served others less fortunate.

A gifted cook, she found joy in preparing meals for family and friends. She and Michael loved dancing together and sharing their appreciation for jazz music. An avid reader and culture lover, Arlene also relished evenings at the theater, attending plays and musical performances.

Above all, Arlene cherished the time spent with her family and friends. Her warmth, intelligence, gracious and tenacious spirit deeply impacted everyone she met. She will be dearly missed.
