Kaminski, Anthony Piotr
Anthony Piotr Kaminski, beloved husband and soulmate of Alicja Lidia Kaminski (nee Narloch), born April 1, 1942, passed away on June 29, 2024 at the age of 82 after a long battle with cancer.
Dear father of Lidia Ann Kroninger (Larry Kroninger), Paul Anthony Kaminski (Jennifer Ebert), Theodore Stanley Kaminski (Lisa Christopher) and Gerard Bruce Kaminski (Heather Fierge); loving and proud grandfather of Daedriana, Kellon, Christine, Andrea, Nicholas, Julia, Eva, Braedon, Cian, Ellie, Natalia, Noah, Joshua, Andrew, Eli, Ella and Evan. Adoring great-grandfather to a large and loving brood of amazing great grandchildren! Very dear brother (and dancing partner) to Jadwiga Tracy Brown, (of the late James Brown); dear brother-in-law, uncle, cousin, Godfather and friend to many more!
Anthony was a 1960 graduate of Cleveland High School in St. Louis, MO where he also lettered in football. He served proudly in the United States Army from 1962-1964 and was awarded the Medal of Service from the state of Missouri. He worked for the US postal service for 3 years before a career with Trans World Airlines (TWA) lasting 40 years before retiring in 2004. Anthony was a member (and soccer player) of the P.N.A. Sports Club and Polish American Cultural Society, proud member of the Polish-American War Veterans, member and elector of the International Polka Association. Member of the TWA Seniors Club and TWA Soccer Club where he organized and played soccer games in London, Italy and Israel for TWA. A volunteer for the St. Peters Senior Center, performing and singing every Tuesday, participant for the Zumba classes at St. Charles Community College. Known as the Warsaw Warblers, Anthony was a successful disc jockey and entertainer extraordinaire at weddings, graduations, reunions and Six Flags theme park with his cousin, John Baras. Avid dancer and performer continuing to win dancing contests with his favorite rock-n-roll dance partner, his sister Jadwiga. One of the longest serving soccer referees for the Missouri State High School Athletic Association for over 41 years.
Anthony followed in his parents footsteps (Stanislaw and Jozefina Kaminski) and was very proud of his Polish heritage and passed that on to his large family! Rarely would a Polish event go by that you would not see Anthony and his wife Alicja (of 60 years) in attendance. From Polka bands to Polka dances to Polish cultural society events and meetings. Anthony continued to share his love of the Polish culture with the public through his two national weekly radio shows, The Polish Polka Program and Polka Plus! As director, producer and longtime host he brought Polish culture to the masses for over 30 years not to mention entertaining the public singing on "Happy Polka Night" at Aunt Maggie's restaurant in Columbia, IL. His accomplishments also include the establishment of a Polish library at St. Stanislaus Kostka Church where he designed, built and maintained the library with Polish movies, Polish music and Polish books for over 17 years! Cherished memories also included two trips with his family to Poland in 2007 and most recently in 2023.
One of his greatest achievements was being awarded the Gold Cross of Merit from the Republic of Poland. The honor was in recognition for his dedication and commitment to the Polish community... truly he was Polish and proud!
We are thankful for the man he was, czesc jego pamienci!
