Alvin Elmer Hunsel

Alvin Elmer Hunsel, of O’Fallon, MO, passed away Thursday, April 4, 2024, at the age of 77. Beloved husband of Patricia Hunsel; cherished son of the late Robert and Alma Hunsel. Devoted father of Dawn (Scott) Pruitt, Tonia Seavey O'Neal, Amy (Charles) Kinzel, and Missy (Anthony) Diveley; loving grandfather of Alix (Andrew) Smith, Logan (Isaiah) Graham, Anthony Diveley, Carmen Kinzel, and Charles Kinzel; treasured great-grandfather of Spencer Graham; dear brother of Elizabeth (Leonard) Westhoff, Alice Matukaites, Charles (Joyce) Hunsel, Mary Ann (Q) Fredericks, and James (Patricia) Hunsel; and brother-in-law of Keith Westhoff and Barb Hunsel. Preceded in death by brother, Robert Hunsel; sister, Linda (Robert) Burkemper; and brother-in-law, Steven Matukaites.

Alvin proudly served in the United States Army and retired from the US Government DOD (Department of Defense). Alvin cherished his time in the military, journeying to Germany both during his Reserves stint and while serving actively in the Army. The allure of being stationed in Germany captivated him, relishing in the flavors of German cuisine and savoring the renowned German brews. Beyond his military duties, Alvin reveled in outdoor pursuits, particularly hunting and fishing, and had a keen interest in firearms, often engaging in buying, selling, and trading them. He enjoyed the peaceful serenity he found walking at the farm and feeding the fish. Additionally, he found fulfillment as a coach for girls' volleyball teams and showcased his dancing prowess by winning contests in both single and couples' disco dancing. He also loved all of his dogs and other animals. He will be remembered for his quick wit and playful teasing. Alvin was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
