Alberta “Bertie” Olga Carey (nee Sauerwein), of Saint Louis, MO, passed away Tuesday, September 25, 2018, at the age of 97. Loving wife of the late LeRoy J. Carey; beloved daughter of the late Phillip and Elizabeth Sauerwein; cherished aunt of Kathryn Jones, Doris Romine, LaVerne Lamphere, Shirley Kattenbraker, James White, John White, Joseph White, Judy Helfrich, Jane Riger, the late Richard Sauerwein; and treasured great-aunt. Bertie is preceded in death by her five sisters, Edna Austin, Clara Rizzo, Helen Todd, Linda Sauerwein, Dorothy White; and brother, Edwin Sauerwein.
Bertie enjoyed playing cards and loved spending time with her with her family. Growing up she was very active and loved to go swimming. Bertie loved working on crafts and was quite talented at it. She was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
