William Dean Meyer, 78, of St. Charles, MO died at his home on Saturday, August 12, 2017. He had been diagnosed with Stage IV non-small cell lung cancer in January. “Bill” was born on January 13, 1939 in Loysville, PA. Upon his graduation from Green Park Union High School he enlisted in the United States Air Force, serving his country for 21 years stationed throughout the U.S., Canada and overseas. After his retirement in 1978 he briefly worked for the Brod-Dugan Paint Co. in Fairview Heights, IL. When the U.S. Army Aviation and Troop Command in St. Louis offered him a position, he once again decided to serve his country as a Logistics Management Specialist in the Federal Civilian Service. He retired from this position in 1997.
Bill is survived by his wife of 36 years, Marie; his daughter, Carol (John) Mueller of O’Fallon, IL; and sister, Dolores Schmidtke of Mechanicsburg, PA. Bill was also father to Kathrine (Tim) Nelson of Kirkwood, MO; and Debra Kilz of St. Louis, MO. Bill’s legacy includes six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, Dean.
A Funeral Service will be held at Zion Lutheran Church in Harvester, 3866 S. Old Highway 94, St. Charles, MO 63304 on Friday, August 18, 2017 at 11:00 am. After the service, a luncheon will be served in the Fellowship Hall of the Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to
Zion’s Music Ministry or School Expansion.
Interment at St. Charles Memorial Gardens will take place privately.
