It is with deep sadness that the family of William Paul Frederick Vogt announce his peaceful passing to eternal life on February 2, 2021, in St. Charles at the age of 88.
He is survived by his children: Rev. Daniel, Gerrianne Church (Larry), Barbara Brandhuber (Philip), John, Mark, and Jo Ann Lank (Michael); grandchildren: Kathryn (Michael), Stanford, Sean (Linda), Samantha (Ross), Jacquelyn, Madeline, Monica, Rebecca (George), Joshua, Robyn, and Mark; seven great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Margaret Burns and Emma Billing (Robert), as well as other extended family and friends.
William was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years Viola (née Vehige); his parents, William and Agnes (née Boschert); siblings: Mary Jane Alfred, Lawrence, Louise Peth, Irene Knoblauch, Brother Norbert, S.J., George, and Donald; as well as a grandson, Jacob.
A lifelong member of St. Charles Borromeo Parish, he served for several years as a Communion Minister. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He studied engineering at Washington University and worked for many years at McDonnell Douglas and Boeing before retirement and later at Patriot Machine for several years thereafter. He also operated his own TV repair business for over 25 years. William was a “fix-it” man. He loved to dive into the details behind a challenge so he could find a solution. He applied those skills to designing and repairing electrical devices at work and at home, assembling jigsaw puzzles and solving Sudoku puzzles. He loved a good joke and was a devoted fan of the St. Louis Cardinals, and will be remembered for his self-sacrifice, hard work and devoted love. He will be deeply missed by those who loved and knew him.
Donations in his memory may be made to the
Qeqchi Partners.
A Mass in his honor will be celebrated by his son, Father Dan, and live-streamed from Guatemala to family and friends. The Mass is scheduled for Saturday, February 13, at 10:00 am. The family of William wishes to thank the administration and staff of the Boulevard Senior Living Center for the many acts of kindness and consideration extended during the last several months of his life, and also the staff of Heartland Hospice for their care in his final days.
