William “Bill” Helmuth Burchard

William was born March 9, 1923 in Germany. He emigrated with his family to the US at the age of six months and died at Breeze Park Lutheran Senior Services in St. Charles, MO on July 6, 2021 at the age of 98.

He enlisted in the US Army in 1942 and served with the 82nd Airborne Army Intelligence Unit during the WWII European Theater and received the Purple Heart.

William married the love of his life, Rose Ann, on June 10, 1949. They were together 62 years until her death on June 28, 2011. The two were founding members of Hope Lutheran Church in St. Ann, MO.

William had an amazing smile that lit up a room and was an eternal optimist. He had a rich life with his wife, Rose Ann, and loved playing tennis and chess. He enjoyed family, friends, many parties and sharing stories and laughs. His kindness towards others is his greatest legacy.

William and Rose Ann had two sons: Steve (Ronda) Burchard of St. Louis, MO and Bruce (Jodi) Burchard of St. Charles, MO. Four grandchildren: Chad Burchard of St. Louis, Lauren (Paul) Richards of Westchester, PA, Kim (Dan) Emerson of Ballwin, MO, and Kyle (Christina) of O’Fallon, MO. Seven Great-Grandchildren: William, Annabel, Madeline, Charles, Adeline, Lucas and Beau.

William was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Rose Ann, and his sister, Marian.
