, Virginia H. (nee Hollrah), of St. Charles, Missouri, passed away on Thursday, January 26, 2017, at the age of 91. Loving wife of the late Henry J. Bekebrede; beloved daughter of the late Martin and Martha Hollrah; devoted mother of Rita Atwell, Rhonda (Wayland) Tenkku, and Marilyn McCoy; cherished grandmother of Angela (Brian) Freitag, Sara (Jason) Colton, Jared (Jenn) Atwell, Micah McCoy, Stephanie McCoy, Aron McCoy, Karl (Julia) Tenkku, Anna (Farid) Sadaka, Kathryn (Sterling) Hayden; treasured great-grandmother of Mason Tenkku, Natalie Freitag, Allison Freitag, Andrew McCoy, Caitlyn McCoy, Christopher Vogt, Brynna Vogt, Nicholas Colton, Victoria Colton, Ella Atwell; dear sister of Carolyn Wiegmann, Loraine Bisanti, and Lois (Fred) Richterkessing; dear sister-in-law of Warren Bekebrede, Kurt (Cleo) Bekebrede, Lorraine Orf, and Delores Nau. She was preceded in death by her sister, Marian Bekebrede, three brothers, Kermit Hollrah, Harvey Hollrah, and Norman Hollrah, her sons-in-law, Steve Atwell, and Clint McCoy, and her great-grandson, Jordan Sadaka.
Virginia grew up on a farm and spent her early married life as a farmer’s wife. She worked both as a grocery store checker and bookkeeper, most notably at Hedges & Hafer, and St. Charles Dairy, respectively. She belonged to Immanuel Lutheran Church in St. Charles and was an active member of both the Lydia Society and the Birthday Club #28. She also enjoyed all the activities at Mt. Carmel, where she was a resident. She was an avid quilter and card player and will be remembered as a social butterfly. What she loved most was spending time with her family and friends. She was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
