Robert Henry Mendenhall, of Saint Charles, MO, passed away Tuesday, November 13, 2018, at the age of 86. Loving husband of the late Darlene A. Mendenhall; Beloved son of the late Earl H. and Rachel E. Mendenhall; devoted father of Gay Lynn (Terry) Estes, and Joy (James) Reddick; cherished grandfather of Sharon (Charles) Large, Katherine (AJ) Felder, and Sam Reddick; treasured great-grandfather of CJ Large, Jordyn Large, Porter Felder, Parson Felder, and Presley Felder; dear brother of Kenneth (Barbara) Mendenhall, Earlene (David) Whitehead, Carolyn (Tom) Copeland, Joe (Diana) Mendenhall, and Rita (Leslie) Sneed; beloved uncle, cousin, and friend to many. Robert is preceded in death by his great-grandson, Pierce Felder; brother, Jerry Mendenhall; and infant sister, Maxine Mendenhall.
Robert proudly served his country in United States Army during the Korean War as a chaplain in Japan. He was a member of Waypoint Church (previously First Baptist of Harvester). Robert enjoyed woodworking and reading. He was the Regional Manager of Southern Baptist Convention Bookstores. Robert enjoyed his work with Habitat for Humanity. He worked as St. Charles City Police Chaplain and Chaplain for Baue Funeral Homes, as well as a Pastor at Charette Baptist Church in Marthasville. Robert also was an interpreter for the deaf, on one occasion he was able to interpret for Billy Graham Crusades. He liked to spend his free time gardening, he especially liked to care for roses. Robert was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
