Richard Robert Dieckmann, of O’Fallon, MO, passed away at home on Friday, February 12, 2021 at the age of 89. Preceded in death by his first wife of 37 years, Ellen Dieckmann, and his second wife of 18 years, Verda Dieckmann, his brother, Norman and his parents Otto and Virginia Dieckmann. He is survived by his daughter Susan (Randy) Campbell and sons, Kurt (Roberta) and Paul, grandchildren Steven, Brianna, Danny, Paige and Samantha (Kenny), great-grandson Bentley, and sister-in-law, Mary Ellen Dieckmann.
Richard, until recent years, was a very active member of St. Peter’s Church in Ferguson, MO. He proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army during the Korean War. He earned his Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering degree in 1957 from Washington University in St. Louis and worked as a thermodynamic engineer at McDonnell Douglas, now Boeing, for 35 years before retiring in 1990.
He enjoyed traveling and was proud to say that he had visited all 50 United States. He best enjoyed cruises and was able to visit 50 international countries on all seven continents. He enjoyed dancing, with ballroom dancing being his favorite. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
The family of Richard wishes to thank the staff of Mercy Hospice for their many visits and devoted care and compassion in Richard’s final weeks.

Richard will be laid to rest in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery at a later date. Burial services will be private for immediate family only.
