I’m brokenhearted to hear this news. Peggy and I met in high school and worked together in Journalism classes on the newspaper and yearbook. Several years ago we worked together again, with a few others, to host a party to celebrate our journalism teacher, Veita Jo Hampton. Peggy was one of the nicest people I’ve ever met. It was always a joy to surprise her at the deli with a visit, where she always made time to sit for a bit while I was enjoying the lunch she had prepared. I will miss this incredible woman. Every time she told me a new development regarding her illness, she was working just as hard as always. Peggy never missed a beat!! Much love Peggy Thomas Buhrman! My sympathy to all friends and family.

Hugs and Prayers for Peggy as God has her in his heavenly kingdom now.
I met Peggy through the Deli and the New Melle Chamber of Commerce .
She always made time when you went into the Deli to visit with you and made others feel so special even when she had so many health ussues of her own.
One day we were just chit chatting about where we grew up etc.. and she told me she was related to the Emmendorfer family
well just so happens that her Aunt Betty and Uncle Cletus were my parents best ftiends and boy yes I coukd see Betty”s beautiful smile through Peggy . Her Aunt brought my Mom and I home from the hospital after II was born.
Peggy’s heart was so big for such a tiny lady.
We will dearly miss her !!❤❤
She left her mark on so many and was always very generous to the Defiance and New Melle communities.Yep she was a gem❤
May she rest in Peace now.

I am so saddened by the passing of Peggy. I met her at the Deli and thought she was one of the nicest people I know. Even after she became very ill, she still greeted her customers with a smile and a kind word. I remember one time I stopped by for a late lunch. While I was there, a man came in that made me really uncomfortable. In fact, he scared me. I had finished eating but I went back up to the counter and told Peggy I would not leave until he was gone. She said she was OK but I ordered a dessert so I would have a reason to stay. He finally left and Peggy thanked me for staying with her. I will miss her smile and her kindness. You all have my sincere sympathy.

candle 2RIP Peggy. She was such a blessing to the Defiance/New Melle community. Her prized Piazza Deli provided employment to so many teenagers in a community with limited options. She made them feel important as she trusted them alone in the evenings and other times in her business, My daughter Allison was one of those workers, and is heartbroken by her passing. My sincere sympathy to all.

Many prayers and thoughts to all of Peggys family. She was very kind and warm-hearted . Her smile was contagious! She made everyone feel so special.
I worked in New Melle and would eat lunch at Piazzas every week. The past few years my family and I would take a Sunday drive to Piazzas for the fantastic food she served and to say hi to her. Even though i only knew her from going to Piazzas, she always made me feel like we were friends forever.

Peggy will always have a place in my heart. Rest in Peace dear friend. Thank you for making me feel so special.

Peggy was an extremely hard working and passionate individual. I was lucky to have such a kindhearted woman as my first employer when I was just a teenager. That kindness will certainly be missed.
