Wegman, Sr., Paul R., of St. Charles, MO, died on Wednesday, August 30, 2017, at the age of 96. Loving husband of the late Marie Wegman; beloved son of the late Herbert and Frieda; devoted father of Paulette (Ed) Nesbit and Paul (Lore) Wegman II; cherished grandfather of D.J. (Stephanie) Leach, Tory (Jennifer) Rinderknecht, Linda (Steve) Korn, Amber Rinderknecht, Necole (Ken) Cunningham, Ariana (Walter) Rinderknecht-Antin, Paul Wegman III, and Nathan (Yukari) Reaven; treasured great-grandfather of 14; loving godfather of John(Fran) Weinzettle; also, a dear uncle, cousin, and friend to many. He is preceded in death by his daughter, Diana L. Reaven and his siblings, Robert (Betty) Wegman, Vera Herner, and Calvin (Margaret) Wegman.
Paul proudly served his country during WWII in the United States Navy as a Navy flight instructor and flew the T-6 Trainer Wildcat, and Hellcat. He was a helicopter pilot in the Navy Reserves for 20 years, and was employed with McDonnell Douglas as a Senior Engineer of Flight Test and was in charge of the first flight of the F-15 Fighter Jet.
Paul attended University of Wisconsin-Stout. He was an active member of the L’Argent Investment Club of St. Charles, a member of the St. Louis Metropolitan Square Dance Club, Society of Flight Test Engineers Club, and long-time member of Immanuel United Church of Christ in Ferguson, MO. Paul was also the Past President of NAIC.
The family would like to express their gratitude and thanks to the Missouri Veterans Home for the loving care they provided for their dad.
