Morris Henry Wessel, of O Fallon, MO, passed away Saturday, August 8, 2020 at the age of 93. Beloved husband of the late Lucille Wessel; cherished son of the late Arlie Sr., and Hilda Wessel; devoted father of Barbara Wessel, Richard (Patricia) Wessel, Linda Sommer and John (Carla) Wessel; loving grandfather of Nicole Sommer and Dena (Deshawn) Campbell; dear brother-in-law of Rosemary Wessel and Joan Wessel.

Morris is preceded in death by his siblings, Donald Wessel, Arlie Wessel Jr., Paul Wessel, Alan “Butch” Wessel, and Judy Wessel.

Morris proudly and honorably served in the United States Merchant Marines during World War II and later served during the Korea Military Action. While serving he traveled the world, sailing through the Panama Canal, also seeing Italy, Guam and France. He was an avid outdoorsman, who enjoyed duck hunting, fishing, and trapshooting. Morris was a baseball player himself in his youth, becoming a loyal St. Louis Cardinals Baseball fan, never missing a game and cheering theme to many victories. In his later years he utilized his skills he obtained while in the Merchant Marines as a cook, baking breads of all kinds. Morris was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Memorials may be made in Morris's name to Assumption Catholic Church, O'Fallon, MO.

I am sorry to hear of the passing of Morris . As you know we just experienced our own loss with our mother , Marilyn Wessel Lanning. Morris and all of the Wessel siblings were fine decent honest human beings . Just good people and the loss is great but I have no doubt lives on within their children . Hoping we can continue to stay in touch with a reunion. Always so fun to reconnect with the family at paul and Ruth’s for squirrel fest. All our sympathy, Morris will not be forgotten . Love Wendy Denny Maryclare and Joe Kammer ( Marilyn And Libby Lanning youngest daughter , Wendy)

candle 7Paul and I want to extend our deepest sympathy to all of Morris family. He was a awesome man. Morris gave Paul his first job and Paul bought his first home from Morris. Paul said he truly love that man and will miss him. We was unable to attend the funeral due to the times with Covid. Pray that you enjoy many happy memories with each other and those memories get you though plus your love for each other.

We are sorry to hear of the loss of Uncle Morris. Remembering those days past when Uncle Morris and Dad would go quail hunting or looking of mushrooms, as it was always special day. May those memories of days past give you peace through this difficult time.
