Maynard L. Jones, of Maryland Heights, MO, passed away Tuesday, August 13, 2019 at the age of 81. Loving husband of 52 wonderful years to Glenda R. Jones; beloved son of the late William and Pearl Jones; devoted father of Angela (Bryan) Porter and Chris (Jamie) Jones; cherished grandfather of Nicholas Porter, Jackson Porter, and Kiersten Simshauser; dearest brother of Milton Jones, Kenneth Jones, and Sharon Perkins; and is survived by many loving nieces and nephews. Maynard is also preceded in death by his two sisters, Elaine Hogan, Shirley Schillinger, and three brothers, Wayne Jones, Melvin Jones, and Donald Jones.

Maynard proudly served his county with honor in the United States Air Force Reserves. He worked as an engineer for Boeing, retiring after a 55 year career. Maynard was also a member of Family Fellowship Church of God where he was on the Pastor's Council. In his free time, he enjoyed hunting and fishing, and he was an avid Mizzou football fan. Family was very important to Maynard, and nothing gave him as much joy as spending time with his beloved grandchildren. He is fondly remembered by his family as a generous and kind man, full of integrity, with a wonderful sense of humor. He was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Memorial contributions in Maynard's honor may be made to the American Heart Association.

    Dear Angie and family,

Praying our dear heavenly father will surround you with his love and comfort at this difficult time. I lost my own father suddenly at the age of 82, as well as my husband, so I do understand and can deeply sympathize. I pray you may find comfort in knowing there is joy in the presence of Jesus (Ps 16:11) that your dear father is experiencing right now.

My thoughts and prayers to the Jones family. Maynard was a kind and gentle man. My experiences with him as a fellow test engineer was some of the best that I had in my career, he never seemed to be in a rush about things but things got done with him around. He gave me some good advice with a few words (his true nature)and better yet as a example of an engineer by his actions.

candle 8Maynard was a kind and gentle man who I fortunately got to know during a brief time on a wind tunnel test. I just know he is by our Lord’s side cracking jokes and making Him laugh. We are so blessed when God places such wonderful folks like Maynard in our lives.

    Angie,

I have a visual of your dad in my mind right now. Loved all our conversations at each other’s desk, hallways and galleys. Wow – what a guy. Stay strong and focus on all the years you had him at your side.

I didn’t get to know Maynard very well until fairly late in his career, but all it took was a couple trips to Singapore with him and he quickly became one of my favorite people. I will always remember him for his caring gaze and his iron grip that conveyed a sense of character and compassion. If you’ve ever shaken Maynard’s hand you know what I mean. No doubt he will be terribly missed by all of his friends, family, and loved ones. God bless you Maynard, you left this world a better place.

candle 7Glenda and family, you have my deepest sympathy.

Maynard and I worked in the Wind Tunnels together, attended Washington University and had several classes together, and stayed in touch over his time at Boeing. We worked together many times later in his career when he came back to the wind tunnel as a customer while working the F-15 program. I know he will be missed by his family and friends.

    May His Memory Be Eternal.

I am truly saddened to learn of Maynard’s passing. Maynard was truly one of my favorite fellow engineers at McDonnell Douglas and later Boeing. He had the greatest sense of humor, a ready smile, and I still remember him poking fun at my New York accent. He was truly a great guy! May he rest in peace.
