Mabel Gertrude Johnson

Mabel Gertrude Johnson, 87, of St. Charles, MO, passed away Thursday, July 25, 2019 at St. Joseph Hospital in St. Charles, MO.
She was born on June 16, 1932 to William Meredith and Margaret (Chapel) Parker, in Braggadocio, MO. She was raised in Braggadocio along with her siblings: Landon, Glennon, Lottie, Pauline, Floyd, Inez, and Bill.
Mabel grew up working in the cotton fields and going to church. It was at church that she met and married at the age of 18 Billy “Bill” Marion Johnson in Caruthersville, MO. To this union were born eight children: Danny Lee, Donna Jean, Doris Kay, Dale Randy, Diane Carol, Dee Linda, Dana Annette, and Donny Randell Johnson.
Mabel was a woman full of life and love. She was an amazing wife, mother, CNA nurse and homemaker. She would spend hours at each meal making three different meals at each sitting because she enjoyed making her children happy.
She was a strong but sweet disciplinarian whose children completely respected her. Her husband worked many hours so she kept her children close and always knew where they were at any moment. She always said until you’ve walked in someone else’s shoes and know of their struggles, be kind. She taught her children how to love unconditionally, to have a servant’s heart, and to always forgive one another.
Mabel loved her church family at Winds of Pentecost. She ask Jesus in her heart and was water baptized in 2003. She shared her love of the Lord with everyone.
Surviving are her children: Danny Johnson of St. Charles, MO, Donna (Butch) Courtney of Harvester, MO, Doris (Roy) Fingers of Wright City, MO, Dale (Lori) Johnson of St. Charles, MO, Diane (Jim) Bowers of Winfield, MO, Dee Linda (Bobby) Wilson, of Farmington, MO, Dana (Darryl) Hunter of Elsberry, MO; sixteen grandchildren: Heather, Danny James, Jennifer, Donna Jean, Michelle, Monica, Chris, Josh, Cory, Jacob, Craig, Rachel, Alisha, Christopher, Austin, and Kaitee; Twenty-Six great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild; her brother, Floyd Parker; and many nieces and nephews.
Mabel was preceded in death by husband, Bill Johnson; son, Donny Johnson; brothers, Landon and Bill; sisters, Glennon, Lottie, Pauline, and Inez; and grandson, Michael Fox.
Memorials may be made in Mable's name to Alzheimer’s Association.
