Lucille V. Wiechens of St. Charles, Missouri, passed away at the age of 90 on Wednesday, September 2, 2020. She was preceded in death by her husband, Cyril J. Wiechens; her parents, Raymond and Mabel Wittenborn; and her two brothers, Delmar and John Wittenborn.

Lucille is survived by her children, Stephen Wiechens, Wayne "Rick" Wiechens, Debbie  (Dennis) Auchly, David R. (Ronda) Wiechens, Diane Wiechens, and Robert "Bob"  (Teresa) Wiechens; her thirteen grandchildren; her twenty-five great-grandchildren; and her siblings, Roland Wittenborn, Lois Dearing, Ruby (Joe) Sendek, and Bonnie (Jerry) Rushing.

Lucille was a parishioner of St. Peter Catholic Church and stayed involved with her community through her volunteer work with the St. Charles Historical Society. Her interest in history extended to a fascination with genealogy where she meticulously researched family ancestry and cemeteries. Lucille belonged to many other Historical Societies and the Oak Grove Cemetery Advisory Board in St. Charles. People always knew her as the “Go-To” Historian. She published books on the subject of genealogy which can be found today in local libraries.

Beyond her historical interests, Lucille had a wide range of other hobbies such as playing cards (especially Pinochle and Bridge), tending to her beautiful garden and award-winning yard, or cooking up a delicious meal for her family to enjoy. Lucille was all about her family and cherished the memories they all made together over the years. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Memorial contributions in Lucille’s name may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or Masses.

My heartfelt condolences go out to her family. I volunteered with Lucille at the St. Charles County Historical Society and was always amazed at her knowledge of the local history. Many times people would come in to do research and would end up gaining so much more information than they hoped for because they talked to Lucille. She was an amazing woman and will be missed.

candle 6Steven, Rick, Debbie, David, Diane and Bob: We send our love and prayers to you on the passing of your Mom, my Aunt Lucille. I’m glad we had a chance to visit with her after my Mom’s burial in St. Charles a couple years ago. It is hard to imagine that the last of the greatest generation is now gone for us. So it’s up to us cousins and extended family to carry on the family legacy. With love, Mark, Alice and Jared.
