Lorene Pfeifer (nee Rohr) passed away from natural causes on July 31, 2020 at the age of 87 fortified with the sacraments of the Holy Mother Church. She is survived by her loving husband of 66 years Daniel J. Pfeifer and three very dear daughters, Lou Ann Wilcox (Tom), Susan Carothers (Grant) and Jean Vandegriff (Dale); four precious grandchildren, Michael (Tina) Carothers, Daniel III (Beth), Grace and Sophie Vandegriff as well as four step-grandchildren Will, Bridget Lolli (Josie), Michael (Breana Timlin) and Colleen Wilcox; and great grandchildren Leo, Sofia, Carter and Sawyer.

Born in Munjor, Kan., Lorene was the youngest of eight children. Preceding her in death were her siblings Tony, Clarence, Irene, Mary Ann, Al and Eugene. Her remaining brother Julius (Mary Jane) Rohr, resides in Wichita, Kan.

Besides being a loving and devoted wife and parent, Lorene worked in retail sales. Her love of God and passion for her faith led her to volunteer as a school nurse, Bible study leader, catechism teacher, hospital volunteer, prison minister and leader of parenting groups. In later years she was a tutor for Oasis and volunteered for the Sts. Joachim & Ann Care Service. She maintained relationships over the years with her many nieces and nephews and cherished her long-time friends. She was known for her deep faith, intercessory prayer and affirmation of others. We will miss her encouragement and recognition. She set a great example for us all and did it with a mischievous sense of humor.

If desired, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Sts. Joachim & Ann Care Service, 4116 McClay Rd, St Peters, MO 63304 or the charity of your choice.

Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic Baue Funeral Homes does require all family members and guests to wear a mask while visiting our facilities. Social distancing is required, and guests should stay at least 6 feet apart. Thank you for your understanding.

candle 3I knew her as “Sis”. She used to take me to high school games and got me started playing drums when she took me to a Gene Krupa concert at Fort Hays when I was about six years old.

    Dear Dan and family,
I am deeply saddened by the death of dear Lorene, so long a faithful member of the People of Praise Prayer Group at St. Elizabeth Seton and an intercessory prayer warrior on my email prayer list. I will be unable to attend the funeral services due to being online at a national conference, but will be praying for all of you and sending a donation to the local Volunteers in Medicine clinic. God bless you all with peace in knowing Lorene is now with the Lord and free of suffering.

Dear Family of Lorene and Dan Pfeifer, We want to express our condolences to you and let you know how special Aunt Lorene was to all of Willie’s family. We always enjoyed being together with your gang because she made us feel special. She always inquired as to how we were doing and what we were up to. Her sense of humor, caring, humanity and faith were exceptional, and we are blessed that she was part of our family. We wish all of you Peace at this sad time.

Before I started school Aunt Lorene would take me to lunch at Steak ‘n Shake. I remember being painfully shy so I know I didn’t make a very good lunch date. But I also remember that the lunches made me feel special. I also remember summertime barbecues on the back patio where Aunt Lorene would ask my Mom if she wanted to split a beer. How many beers they would end up splitting? Well, I’ll never tell. I have many sweet memories of the fun and spirit that Aunt Lorene would bring to every family gathering. I was blessed to know her.
Sending Love to Uncle Dan, Lou Ann, Sue & Jean and all who loved Lorene.

I’ll sure miss Mrs.Pfeifer. Mr. and Mrs. Pfeifer are wonderful people. She was a great and special lady. I was fortunate to visit with the Pfeifers several times over the years in various places. Sometime in the late 80’s I went with Jean and Dale to visit her parents in St. Louis at their home. All the family was there and Mrs. Pfeifer had a big meal prepared for us and gave us each a little gift. I got a little yellow toothbrush cover. It was a simple gift but I still have it to this day in my dop kit to remind me of her and that long ago visit. Mr. Pfeifer, Jean, Lou Ann and Sue and the family will be in my prayers.
