Lauren Chastine Lacey (nee Abbott), of Weldon Springs, MO, passed away Monday, November 22, 2021 at the age of 72. Beloved daughter of the late Lawrence and Mary Ruth Abbott; loving mother of Ryan Jack (Kasi) Lacey; treasured grandmother of Harper Jean Lacey; dear sister of the late Larry Abbott.

Lauren was a member of the Whitmore Country Club & longtime member of St. John's Church of Christ. She had a strong faith in God and enjoyed attending bible study.

Lauren had a passion for learning and when she set her mind to something she would accomplish many amazing things. Lauren learned how to fly a plane, purchased her own plane and was an avid pilot for many years. She was an accomplished golfer who played competitively in several leagues for numerous years and achieved a hole in one, not once but twice! Golf was truly one of Lauren’s passions.

At an early age Lauren’s love for animals was evident, she loved horses and was an accomplished rider. Her love for animals carried throughout her life as she donated to organizations that helped care for animals finding them their forever homes. Lauren has two cats, Scarlett and Taffy who were both adopted as adult cats and she treated them like royalty.

Lauren started "Designed to be Mine" which was a home-based screen printing and embroidery LLC. She was a proud grandmother of her granddaughter, Harper Jean Lacey, and was happy to tell anyone within earshot about her. Lauren was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Memorials may be made in Lauren 's name to Seven More Cats Rescue

Baue Funeral Homes is currently following CDC recommendations regarding mask and social distancing policies.

candle 4I used to love visiting my sister during the summers on Clark Ave when Lauren and Ryan lived there. She was an awesome neighbor and had an eye for interior decorating – her house was so cool! Lauren was such a vibrant personality with a laugh that would light up a room! Even after they moved Lauren would always ask my sister how I was doing. She definitely left a hole in this world has list a beautiful light. I’m grateful to have known her.

candle 1My heart is broken. I found a friend who gave me inspiration at times although I was an Associate Pastor to her. There were times when I questioned God why such a beautiful spirit was ill especially when I have come to love her as a friend and sister in the Lord. She showed faith and strength when I was at my most vulnerable and kept believing in a miracle. She assured me she was at peace with her situation and it was well with her soul. A friend and sister in the Lord who renewed my faith in knowing that we all belong to God and its okay to await our journey back to the Lord because Earth is not our home. Rest in peace Lauren. You were a strength of faith at a time when everyone needed an example of such. Will miss you and thanks for the gift. Rev. Dr. Bella Brown Winters

candle 4Lauren was a dear lady who I grew to admire deeply in our St. John faith community. She loved her family and friends fiercely and with great loyalty. I’m glad she is no longer in earthly pain. I know that she will be missed by many.

I knew Loren as a Neighbor back in 1980 as she was awaiting the birth of her son Ryan. She was so proud then and through life of the family man he had become. I Pray she is in a better place pain free with her maker🙏🏼

I met Lauren when I brought her a cat (now known as Taffy) to meet her. She told me what she was looking for and I picked a cat that I thought would fit in with her and Scarlet (her other cat). The meeting went great and talking with Lauren I knew she would be a great adopter. She was such a sweet lady and a beautiful soul, even through her cancer she was always so positive. I will miss our short talks and getting updates on the kitties as she frequently would send me.
