Larry Crittenden of Saint Charles, MO, passed away at the age of 65 on Tuesday, July 2, 2019. He is survived by his beloved wife of 35 years, Margarite Crittenden; his daughters, Brittany (Arnold III) Hale and Netasha (Fiance Steve Murray) Gilkey; his mother, Josephine Crittenden; his grandchildren, Chase and Bailee Hale; his siblings, Calvin Crittenden, Barbara Crittenden-Baber, Sonja (Greg) Redmond, Anita Crittenden, Bernard (Kathleen) Crittenden, Cheryl Crittenden-Davis, Constantine Crittenden, Regina Crittenden, Michael Crittenden, and Anthony (Vanessa) Crittenden; his sisters-in-law, Cleo Wright and Alma Jean (Duane) Shadd; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Larry is preceded in death by his father, Charles Crittenden; two brothers, Charles Crittenden, Jr. and James (Nancy) Crittenden; and his brothers-in-law, Roney Wright and Gregory Wilson.

Larry was a true to the bone Chicagoan, growing up on the Southside he was the utmost fan of Chicago sports. When his teams would win, his favorite saying was “RAC ‘EM”! He was the life of the party and lit up every room he entered with his magnetic personality. He was a master of trash talk and a connoisseur of old school music. Larry had an entrepreneurial spirit and owned High Energy Devices. Besides sports, Larry enjoyed watching classic movies and tv programs. Most of all Larry was Love. He was devoted to his mother and loving and loyal to his wife. He adored his daughters and grandchildren. He was faithful to the bond he shared with his siblings and was a mentor and role model to his nieces and nephews. He wrapped his entire extended family into his care. Larry was unequivocally the best among us. He will be dearly missed by so many.

Larry was a giver and was always willing to make a donation, you may make a donation to an organization of your choice.

I haven’t seen Larry since I moved out of the project we grew up in. Yet the news of his passing hurt like I just saw him yesterday. He is a perfect example of the qualities of talent that came from the projects. He represent all of us, with his Character, personality and behavior. I watch him grow, I was motivated by his successes in life, I made changes to my life to achieve some of the same goals. He was truly a Roll Model for us all, he will be miss. God Bless and RIH Brother Larry

I’ve known Larry about 13 years (since our Bally’s days). He always had a smile on his face and could always cheer me up. We disagreed on about everything relating to politics and professional sports but he was still encouraging and good for thought provoking chats. He worked out after me at Pro-fit on Saturday’s. He’s usually sit in his car parked next to mine and we’d have a little spur going on (chat about Cardinals/Cubs baseball or my love for Auburn). This Saturday was not the same without him. But the memory of his smile and kindness will remain. Many prayers to his family. I hope you have comfort in knowing how he touched so many lives!

candle 1My condolences to the Crittenden family on the loss of Larry. I’ve known the family for over 50 years. Larry and I graduated Oakenwald together and I only kept in contact with him through Facebook. His pics told a lot about him. He was definitely a family man, close to his sisters and brothers. He will surely be missed and I will keep his family in Prayer.

I will miss our trash talking conversations about the Cubs vs Cardinals rivalry. I am a devoted Cardinals fan, and he the undeniable Cubs fan. Prayers for his family. May you take solace in knowing how deeply he touched so many lives. RIP friend.
