Julia M. Christy, of O’Fallon, Missouri, passed away January 18, 2021, at the age of 92. She was born on August 16, 1928, in Leopold, MO. She graduated from Jackson High School in May 1950.
Julia married Walter W. Christy on February 9, 1952 in Jackson, MO. The couple soon moved to the St. Louis area where Julia worked as a nurse at McQuay-Norris Navy division. She later went on to work for McDonnell-Douglas, until she retired in 1989.
Julia was a devoted Catholic who loved Jesus and Mary. She spent most of her adult life attending church at Assumption Catholic Church in O’Fallon, MO. In her free time, Julia loved to volunteer and visit the sick. She enjoyed quilting and was a member of the St. Barnabas and Assumption quilting groups. She liked sewing and embroidering as well. As a women dedicated to her faith, Julia also volunteered as a Captain of the funeral luncheons at Assumption, and she was a eucharistic minister who gave communion at St. Dominic.
On the fun side of things, Julia lived life to the fullest, and she even played darts until a year ago. She enjoyed traveling with her husband. Around the house, she liked gardening, baking, and canning vegetables.
Julia is survived by her sisters-in-law, June (Edward) Fries and Fern (Donald) Crump; her nephews, Richard (Shelly) Seiler, Ron (Tassie) Seiler, Roger (Laura) Seiler, and niece, Phyllis (Chris) Fabrizi, as well as many other great nieces, nephews and family friends who will miss her dearly.
Julia was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Walter W. Christy; her parents John F. and Mary Rose Seiler (nee Van Gennip); her sibling, Marvin J. (Anna) Seiler; and a niece, Gail A. Seiler.
Julia was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Memorial contributions may be made in Julia’s name to
Assumption Catholic Church for Care of Old Chapel.
