John R. Covilli

April 17, 1956 — December 26, 2020

John Robert Covilli, affectionately known as Johnny, of Saint Charles, MO, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 26, 2020 at the age of 64.

John was born on April 17, 1956 to Arthur and Nellie Covilli. He is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Marie Covilli, and their two sons John Andrew “Drew” Covilli, and Brendon (Kelsey Pischel) Covilli and 3 month old grandson Cooper Covilli.  He is a dear brother to Pamela (Dr. Peter) Heinbecker, Betty (Frank) Barro, Ron (Debbie) Covilli, and Tom (Karlene) Covilli; brother-in-law of Cindy King, Farron (Theresa) King, Paula (Mark) Castleman, Jack King, and Martin King.  He was a loving uncle to Peter Heinbecker, Jr. Joseph Heinbecker, Gina Barro, Linda Barro, Michael Barro, Carie Brown, Todd Covilli, Alisha Walter, Lauren Slavik, Hunter King, Alex King and Adam King.

John found the perfect career fit in his nearly 41 years with Dale Carnegie & Associates. With his upbeat, optimistic, loyal character, he inspired those around him to follow his “in what ways can we” attitude. Always quick with a smile, a kind word and a nickname for you, John will be missed by all who worked with him in the worldwide organization and the principles it stood for that he so respected.

As a lifelong resident of St. Charles, John was passionate about helping out his community. He served many years on the board for the Boys & Girls Clubs of St. Charles County and actively raised funds for many local organizations.

A captivating story teller with a strong streak of kind humor, John could weave a memory into a story, never leaving you to doubt the love he had for the subject. Most often those subjects included his family, friends and their children, golf, travel and his beloved St. Louis sports teams. Always a people person, John never shied from letting anything get in the way of making a person feel important.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that you consider a gift to honor John and benefit these organizations he kept close to his heart: Boys and Girls Club of St. Charles Missouri (https://bgcstc.org/) or Duchene High School (https://www.duchesne-hs.org/) or Gwendolyn Gifts (https://gwendolynsgifts.org/) or the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (https://donate.lls.org/lls/donate).

The family will gather for a private funeral Mass.
