Janice "Jan" A. Benne (née Heaton), of Saint Charles, Missouri, passed away at the age of 70 on Monday, May 6, 2019.  Jan fought multiple serious health issues the past year and a half, and even to the end made sure she held on until all of her children were able to come back and see her.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert M. and Arleen T. (Ebert) Heaton.

Jan was born in Saint Louis, Missouri, on April 2, 1949.  She grew up in Oakville and graduated from Mehlville High School.  Jan met her husband, Roy A. Benne, while attending Southeast Missouri State University in Cape Girardeau and they were married on August 22, 1970.

Jan is survived by her beloved husband, Roy Benne; her daughter, Cheryl (Joshua) Benne-Baker; her sons, David, James (Sherrie), Michael, Jason (Tammy), Joshua (Sharon) and Jonathan Benne; her grandchildren, Lake Benne, August Benne, Hannah Benne, Cameron Baker, Amanda Corbell, Misty Smith, Daniel Cason and Brett Cason; her great-grandchildren, Brayden Bunnell, Sailor Corbell and Cailynn Corbell; her sisters, Judy (Gary) Hill and Nancy Heaton; her brothers, Robert (Chris) and Donald (Genise) Heaton; her nieces and nephews; her aunt Eileen O’Brien; and several cousins.

Jan most loved time spent with her grandchildren, cooking, listening to music, and the trips she and Roy were able to make before her health began to fail.

Contributions to the Alport Syndrome (Kidney Disease) Foundation, La Leche League of Missouri , or Children's Miracle Network are appreciated.

candle 1So sorry for the families loss! I remember when our kids did homeschool activities together. I was stressing about one of mine not understanding an educational milestone that I felt he should have. She helped me to see that every child learns differently and encouraged me to help him learn the best way for him. She also reminded me that things like kindness, helpfulness and caring were important too! She’s a kind soul that positively impacted many people!

My sympathy and prayers for all of Jan’s family. Although not able to always see each other, we kept in touch over the years since meeting in 6th grade…good memories!

candle 4Words cannot express how sorry I am hearing this,. Jan was always a rock ok love and encouragement for her family and friends. She was my best friend and neighbor for many years and I cherish the memories we had together especially as our children grew. I will always remember when we saw something beautiful, we would say in unison “We could do that!” God’s blessings and comfort to her entire family. She will be so missed.

The kindness and compassion that she has shown me and my family through many years has been invaluable. The parenting guidance has not only shaped me, but my children and my future grandchildren. We are all better people because of Jan and the entire Benne family. Rest in pease dear friend, you are missed.
