James (Jim) DePew, age 80, passed away suddenly at his home in St. Peters, MO on Wednesday April 10
th, 2019. He was born on November 12, 1938 in Poughkeepsie, NY to Harold and Elma DePew. He was the middle of three children.
A graduate of F.D. Roosevelt High School in Hyde Park, NY, he then went to serve in the U.S. Air Force for six years. As a veteran, the discipline and patriotism never left him, as friends and family will attest.
Jim then attended Spartan College of Aeronautics and Technology in Tulsa, OK. which launched an impressive career in the airline industry that spanned over thirty five years. It began with Ozark Airlines, then TWA, and finally retiring from American Airlines. After retirement, his second career started; taking care of his family, dogs, and home. He could build or repair anything and had a passion for woodworking. Jim made beautiful pens and there are thousands that are in many cities throughout the United States.
A devoted husband, great cook, chauffeur and avid Cardinals fan, these and many more memories will always be in our hearts.
He is survived by his beloved wife of forty-three years, Janet; sister Audrey Silvers; sons, Bobby (Cathy), Michael (Lora), and Bill; daughter, Danielle (Bill) Myers; step-children, Debra Cruce, Linda (John) Kinnevan, and Mark Reames; eleven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and a niece and nephew.
