James H. Shartzer, Jr., age 85, of St. Charles, MO, September 2, 2017. Beloved husband of the late Patricia A. Shartzer; cherished son of the late James Sr. and Jeanette Shartzer; devoted father of Connie (Rik) Sandoval, Donna (Tony) Galeski, and Billy Shartzer (and friend, Lisa Brooks); loving grandfather of Joel, Dustin, Ariana, Valerie, Tony, Patrick, Mathew, Kyle, Jon, and Luke; treasured great-grandfather of Brayden, Emilee, Callie, Josie, Judd, Ainslee, Aubrey, Lane, Leena, Alejandro, Korbin, Libby, and Isabel; and dear brother of Evelyn (Wiley) Rogers and John (Mona) Shartzer.
He was also preceded in death by his son, James Shartzer; great-grandchild, Avarie Cooper; and sisters, Jennie and Lillian.
James proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. During the Korean War, he was held as a Prisoner of War for 33 months. James was a proud member of the VFW Post 2866 and DAV. He was dearly loved, and will be missed by all who knew him.
Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Charles Senior Center.
