Hilrie Travis Wood of Wentzville, Missouri, passed away at the age of 82 on Monday, June 29, 2020. He was preceded in death by his parents, Savilla and Hilrie Franklin Wood; his siblings, Mildred Wood, Marie Crocker, Helen (Delbert) Bryant, Frank Wood, Betty (Ed) Roundtree, Gerald Wood, and David Wood.
Travis was a loving husband of 56 years to Patricia Wood; cherished father of Ronda (Tom) Fields, Linda (Lawrence) Altadonna, Brenda (Brad) Chapman, and Tonya (Scott Lee) Wood; treasured grandpa of Brent (Holly Nampel) Fields, Jake (McKenzie Magnus) Fields, Mckenna Chapman, Nick Chapman, Gabby Altadonna, Lucia Altadonna, James Altadonna, and Piper Chapman; dear great grandfather of Isabelle Fields; dear brother of Barb (the late Dave) Mayo, Faye (the late Ken) Lawson, John (Nancy) Wood, Carolyn (Duane) Price, and Margie (the late Clyde) Bodell; and brother-in-law of Betty Wood and Gayle Wood.
Travis proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He retired from McDonnell Douglas/Boeing after more than 42 years in Tool & Die. He was a card-carrying member of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers in St. Louis, MO.
As an all-around tradesman, Travis was quite a handyman and could fix anything, especially cars. He was a fan of all cars, especially vintage cars, and he loved working on them! He enjoyed going to car shows and was a member of the National Street Rod Association. He was also an outdoorsman who liked to spend his time hunting, fishing, or tending to his huge garden.
Above everything, Travis truly cherished his family and loved spending time with them. He was a wonderful husband, an adoring father, the best grandpa ever, a dear nephew, uncle, and friend to many. He was greatly loved and will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
