Helen Z. Howard (nee Hawkins) of Saint Peters, MO, ascended into Heaven to meet her Lord and Savior Christ Jesus at the age of 85 on Tuesday, December 18, 2018. She is preceded in death by her parents, Lafayette and Catherine Hawkins, and seven of her siblings.
Helen is survived by her beloved husband Bob Howard of more than 65 years; her children, Shar (Tom) Degnan, Ron (Diana) Howard, Steve (Darlene) Howard, Dave (Caroline) Howard, Jan (Dave) Linhardt, and Joe Howard; her siblings, John, Rosemary, and Patty; her grandchildren, Kristen, Jessie, Bobby, Alison, Ryan, Josh, Kelsey, Sarah Helen, Daniel, Collette, Tom, Cassie, Alyssa, Jake, Sarah, Emma, Ellie, and Hannah; and her great-grandchildren, Jadyn, Silas, Braedy, Finnley, Zachary, Levi, Raegan, Elaina, Harper, and soon-to-be-born Baby Paisley.
Helen was a woman of deep and profound faith and she instilled this in her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Those who knew Helen knew how much she loved cooking, how she always cooked from scratch, and how she loved to serve delicious meals to her family like her chicken and dumplings. She had a traveler’s heart and explored all over the country, having countless adventures together with Bob. Friends and family will always remember Helen’s dynamic personality, especially her infectious laugh and smile, how she could get a stain out of anything, and her ability to always find a great shopping deal. They’ll remember she definitely had a stubborn streak, which at times provided an admirable source of strength; but above everything, they’ll remember her as a woman who dearly loved her family. Clearly, she will be missed.
