Harold Yahnke

August 11, 1936 — April 4, 2019

Harold Yahnke of Saint Charles, MO, passed away at the age of 82 on Thursday, April 4, 2019. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred Yahnke and Grace Yahnke; and his brother, Ron Yahnke.

He is survived by his beloved wife of nearly fifty-five years, Jean Yahnke; his son, Dustin (Amy) Yahnke; his grandchildren, Hudson Yahnke and Abby Kielty; and his siblings, Muriel Johnson and Larry (Orean) Yahnke.

Harold’s great passion in life was flight. He proudly served his country as a member of the U.S. Air Force and he was a retired air traffic controller with his own private pilot’s license. In addition to flight, Harold had a number of other hobbies including woodworking and antique automobiles and tractors. He was formerly a part owner of the Buffalo Center Tribune newspaper in Buffalo Center, Iowa. Harold loved traveling around with his wife Jean – especially to Alaska. He was a faithful member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in St. Charles and he will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

Contributions in Harold’s name can be made to Legacy of Love and The Salvation Army, or to the Donor's Choice.
