candle 1Dear Mike & Linda, Nick & Sandy, Vickie, Terry & Rita, Mickey and Kenny,

It’s with great sympathy I write to you. Your dad and husband was a very special and kind man, as well as sweet uncle. I have such great memories as a kid when our parents frequently played various card games sitting around your kitchen table in the house on Main St. Must admit they’d get loud and rowdy at times; they sure had fun. So many good memories; in thinking back, seems Uncle Harland, and your mom, had nicknames for the three Luetkenhaus kids, who were always in tow, I was Neetz to them. Happy memories of simpler times.

As an adult I’ve enjoyed all my visits and easy chats with Uncle Harland and Mickey at their house during my travels from Phoenix. During a recent visit I loved how proud he was of his military service to our Country during WWII, as he certainly should have been. His mind was so sharp as he shared vivid memories of thst time period. We’ve now lost another very loyal and selfless veteran from the greatest generation, Uncle Harland.

As the minutes, days, months and years go by, remain open to an unidentified cool breeze, maybe a bird or butterfly, that appears regularly. It may be Uncle Harland visiting you. I truly believe that when we think of those who have passed, it is at that moment they are with you, maybe in the form of one of God’s creations, or maybe not.

May God bless you all during this difficult time.

In loving memory of Uncle Harland,
      Neetz

candle 8Uncle Harland was quite a man. He lived a wonderful life. In O’Fallon as Postmaster, before that in Navy. He kept in touch with me in California. He and Vickie shared my dad BJ(Dick)Griesenauer’s Family History. I remember one of the last time I was in Missouri. My family Alice, Dad, Jay, Jeri and myself barbecuing in Loretta and Harland’s backyard. Harland held so many philanthropic positions in his retirement. Proud to know Harland Stroud.

candle 1Harland has been our next door neighbor for the last 15 years and always extended his warm and welcoming heart to us and all our neighbors. As our Lord Jesus tells us to “Love our Neighbor as we love ourselves”, Harland, Micki and Kenny certainly know how to do this and our lives have been extremely blessed and enriched by knowing him and all the love and affirmation he freely gave! We send our deepest sympathy, prayers and heartfelt love to all his family!

Harland was one of the “legends” in O’Fallon ! A wonderful man that was always there to help! When I was growing up in O’Fallon, he was Mr. Stroud. Years later when we were part of Kiwanis, he was Harland, a friend! How our lives revolve, Rest In Peace by friend🙏🏻

Please accept our sympathy at this difficult time. Harland was such a gentleman with an easy smile. We always enjoyed seeing him at the KC fish fries. We still laugh thinking about Harland borrowing Kenny $20 so he could pay for his meal and a friends. Kenny handed the change back to Harland and said he paid him back. We all had a laugh with him.
