Guy Landon Swan

1940 - 2021

On April 13th, 2021, Guy Landon Swan, devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend passed away at the age of 81 years old.

A lifelong resident of St. Charles county, Guy was born on March 3, 1940 to Herman Lamont and Anna Irene (née McDonald) Swan. He served as a proud member of the United States Marine Corp stationed at Camp Pendleton from 1958 to 1961.  While in the Marine Corp Guy reached the rank of Lance Corporal and served as a radio operator among other duties. He was an excellent marksman and received several awards.

Introduced to his wife, Jacqueline (née Thiem) by friends on a blind date, they were married on September 21, 1962 in Union, MO and married for 58 years. Together they raised three children, daughters Patti Sue and Marisa and son, Michael.

Guy worked for 35 years for the St. Louis County Water Company. He retired in 2000 and he and his wife Jackie enjoyed ten wonderful years at their home on Lake of the Ozarks. Guy was an avid hunter and fisherman and was happiest when he was outdoors or working with his hands. He built many projects for family and friends over the years.

One of Guy’s greatest attributes was his gentleness which included the chivalry ingrained in him during his time in the Marines which he extended to family, friends and strangers alike. He also had an incredible work ethic and was known for keeping his truck, tools and materials immaculate at the water company. He was fun-loving and maintained his sense of humor throughout. Among some of Guy’s fondest memories were the trips he and Jackie took to Alaska and Wyoming and the years they spent at the lake.

Guy was preceded in death by his parents, sister Peggy Pollard and her husband, Walter and his brother, Bennie Watson. He is survived by his loving wife, Jacqueline, daughter Patti Sue (Jeff) Mullican, son Michael (Julie) Swan and daughter, Marisa (Shirley Smith) Swan, grandchildren Cameron (Amber) Wilson, Emily Swan, Brady Mullican and Matthew Swan, great grandson Jack Lamzik, sisters, Bonnie Forsee and Wanda (Frank) Quirk and brother Laddie (Jeri) Swan as well as nieces and nephews and sister-in-law Theresa Weakly.

He loved well and will be dearly missed.
