Gene Gilbert Nothaker, of St. Charles, MO, passed away Friday, January 29, 2021 at the age of 93. Beloved husband of Willie Nothaker; cherished son of the late Gilbert E. Nothaker and Estelle (Earl) L. Ruehmkorf; devoted father of Jan (David) Radcliff and the late Gene Gilbert (Anna Brown Surviving) Nothaker Jr.; loving grandfather of Lisa (Timothy) McCarthy, Douglas (Linda Vogel) Wallace, Timothy (Latrice) Nothaker, Dr. Michael, Deanna Wallace-Donovan, and Joshua Radcliff; treasured great grandfather of Aiden, Liam, Landon McCarthy, Neal & Gene Nothaker III "Trace", Jaya Wallace, Harry & Jane Lynette Donovan.
Gene proudly served in the United States Navy. On Thanksgiving Day, November 28, 1946, he was united in marriage to Willie Garnell Fullington. Gene made his profession of faith in the Lord Jesus Christ in April 1953 and was baptized on Easter Sunday. Gene was an ordained Southern Baptist Deacon having been ordained at Hazelwood Baptist Church on October 15, 1978 and a member of First Baptist Church of St. Charles since their return from FL in 2006. Gene was a very active person all through his life. For over seventy years, Gene was an electrician and proud member of the IBEW Local #1. He was a singer, choir director, musician who played the accordion, organ, trumpet, and drums; Master Mason, Scottish Rite, Shriner, Electric Craft Past Grand master, American Legion, lifetime member of the VFW, Golfer, sportsman, good neighbor, husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, but most important of all he was a man who loved God!
He loved and respected his Lord Jesus Christ and The Word. Gene’s life motto was II Timothy 2:15 “Study to show thyself approved unto God; a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” His favorite Bible verse: Ephesians 2:19 “I am no longer a foreigner or an alien but a fellow citizen with the saints of the household of God!” Gene was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
