Gary Hemminghaus, of St. Charles, Missouri, died Tuesday, January 10, 2017, at the age of 48. Beloved son of Shirley Hemminghaus and cherished stepson of Carl D. Poinsett; treasured brother of Matthew (Victoria) Hemminghaus and Daniel (Susan) Hemminghaus; dear stepbrother of Mark (Cynthia) Poinsett, Joel Poinsett, and Matthew (Karen) Poinsett; and loving uncle of Mena and Bode Hemminghaus. He was preceded in death by his beloved father, Allan Hemminghaus; grandparents, Otto and Amalia Hemminghaus and Harry and Valeria Turner; and his aunt, Juanita (Robert) Pezold.

Gary was a cook at McDonald’s for over 25 years. He was actively involved in the Pujols Family Foundation. Gary greatly enjoyed playing sports, especially bowling, softball, basketball, and soccer, with both St. Louis Arc and St. Charles Community Living. Gary also loved traveling and being outdoors. He will be remembered for his unconditional love for everyone and his freely given hugs. Gary was dearly loved, and will be missed by all who knew him.
