My heart is breaking for Mary and the rest of Jerry’s family, all of us in the neighborhood, and anyone who knew him. Jerry was the nicest person you would ever meet. I’m truly going to miss our conversations during his walks in the neighborhood. The world will never be the same.

      candle 3Dear Mary,
With deepest sympathy to you and your family. It has been years since our paths crossed, so I don’t know if you still remember me. Jerry hired me right out of tech school back in 1982 (when he worked for Sorbus Service). He hired me even after watching me lock my keys in my car on my 1st interview. I owe him alot for believing in me. My fellow coworkers and I were just young kids working for him. Looking back, those days were full of promise and we had so much fun working for Jerry. I remember the time you opened your home up to us for some company celebration. That was really sweet of you. I will also never forget the time Jerry took me downtown St. Louis to help me pick out an engagement ring. He didn’t have to do that, but that was Jerry. You both gave us many wonderful memories and set a solid example for what good people do. You both will always have a place in my heart. I wish you comfort and God’s blessing for we will all truly miss Jerry.

    Dear Mary,
I was so shocked when I got the news on Monday that your husband had passed away. All I can say are just a bunch of words that I know won’t take away the pain, sadness and the feeling of being so alone. Thankfully, you have your family to help you through this difficult time. Take care my friend, and let me know if I can at least give you a smile with one of my silly jokes.

    Mary, Frank, & Jeff:
So sad to hear of Jerry passing. I will really miss him. Jerry was one of the first people that I met when I came to Sorbus. Some of my favorite memories were the lunches we shared together, solving all of the worlds problems. After I left, we still kept in contact with phone calls. The last time I talked to him we promised to get together this summer. Sorry we won’t be able to do that. I’ll miss you Jerry. You were a great friend.

I was so sorry to hear about Jerry. I remember Jerry from early on when he, I and Gary Glasscock were in Sunday school class together and would always play a couple of rounds of miniature golf afterwards. And then of course there were all the great years in high school together. Jerry’s dad was the Sunday school teacher. I think the last time I visited with you and Jerry was at Tom Gowan’s funeral. I took the liberty of notifying Betty Gowans and Gary. Jerry was a great guy.

Jerry brightened everyday. I was proud to be his lawyer. I tried his work injury case thirty five years ago to two juries. Lost both of them! The next Christmas Jerry showed up with the biggest bottle of whiskey. He said my losing those cases caused him to become a computer repair man and programmer and changed his life. Other years brought more presents and once a golf club he made. Jerry truly changed lemons to lemonade! Mary, I’ll miss him as we all will.
