Elmer “Bim” Schaub of Saint Charles, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, October 13, 2021 at the age of 87. He was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Constance Schaub.

Bim is survived by his wife of 65 years, Elizabeth Schaub; children, Kevin (Beverly) Schaub, Richard (Kimberly) Schaub, and Gary (Janet) Schaub; grandchildren, Edward, Connie, Michael, Amanda, Dustin, Molly, Benjamin, and Katie; two step-grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; five step-great grandchildren; and sister, Estelle (the late Jim) Rynders.

Bim was a faithful parishioner of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church and a member of Painters Union Local 46. He graduated from Marquette High School in Alton, Illinois and began his career as a drywall taper in 1955. He later retired from Echele Drywall. Bim was an outdoorsman who liked to spend as much time as he could fishing, hunting, and frog gigging. When his children were little, Bim felt at home out on the river and loved going boating and water skiing.

After Bim retired, he enjoyed tinkering in his basement workshop. He would try to fix anything and he was always up for a challenge. Whenever his grandchildren had a ball game or sporting event, Bim could be counted on to be there cheering for them. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Memorials may be made in Bim’s name to the Salvation Army, BJC Hospice - St. Peters, or masses at St. Charles Borromeo Church.

Your dad was a wonderful person, and a great craftsman. I was always glad to have the opportunity to work with him. He was a real down to earth person. We went to do a repair job in the home of a local celebrity, and arrived at 7 AM . The builder neglected to tell the homeowner we would start at 7, and when we knocked on the door the person was a bit unhappy and made the statement do you know who l am, and Bim said no, but I am Bim Schaub and I am pleased to meet you. The home owner was almost immediately disarmed and said,” come on in. “ We both has a good laugh after the job.

“Bim” and I went to grade school together, and he and his family lived next door to my Grandpa & Gramma Jacobs in West Alton. We had A lot of fun when we were kids, and played every night after school. What a good person he was!
