Elizabeth Gallon Weir

March 7, 1931 — July 17, 2020

Elizabeth Gallon (Renwick) Weir, 89, died Friday, July 17, 2020, at the home of her son Graham and his wife Nancy in O'Fallon, Missouri.

Born on March 7,1931, in Blantyre, Scotland, Elizabeth was one of 6 children, Jackie (John), Jessie, Edward, Nancie (Agnes) and Allen; born to John and Agnes Renwick. As a child, she overcame serious injuries and illnesses and developed a love of reading and art.

She was married to George Weir who survives her, on September 29, 1950. Two years later, they immigrated with their son Maurice to Elyria, Ohio. Their other children Graham and Shona were born in Ohio.

Elizabeth and George raised their family in Marion, Ohio, where her interest in religion led her to Christian Science.  She helped thousands of people, first as a Christion Science nurse and later as a CS Practitioner and Church Reader, conducting Sunday Services. Her life was focused on giving: to her family, to her Church, to her patients and then making countless contributions to charities that focused on the disadvantaged. She opened her home up to many, including hosting African foreign exchange students.

Elizabeth loved reading and painting with oil and acrylics. Family outings and traveling by car were favorites. She often purchased local art from around the US and displayed it prominently in their home.

In 1990, George and Elizabeth moved to the Bodega Bay area in California where they loved the cooler climate and views of the Pacific Ocean. In 2007, they moved to O'Fallon, Missouri to be closer to grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She is survived by her loving husband George; her sister, Nancie Wright; her three children; Maurice and his wife Kerry, Graham and his wife Nancy, Shona and her husband Eric (as she liked to call her new son); her grandchildren, Tristan, Kaily, Stirling, Rachel, Dylan, and Giorgi; and her great grandchildren; Ainsley, Merritt, Reagan, and Addison.  All of whom gave her great joy.

The family requests no memorial gifts.
