E. David Poole Sr.

April 13, 1940 — February 6, 2019

Elbert David Poole, Sr., 78, of St. Charles, MO, died Wednesday, February 6, 2019.

“David” Poole, son of late Rev. Tommie and late Gladys Poole, loving husband of Loetta (Wilson) Poole, passed away at his home in St. Charles, MO after bravely battling cancer.  He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Loetta and their four children Janice (Fred) Georg, Dianna Smith, Pamela (Tim) Nodine, E. David Jr. (Tina) Poole.  Cherished PaPa to Samantha (Erik) Brown, Christopher (Kelly) Georg, Raymond Georg, John (Jenna) Smith, David (Ashley) Smith, Lauren (Ben) Barber, Emily Poole, and E. David Poole III, along with 15 great grandchildren.

He was born in Oklahoma and moved to Fort Smith, Arkansas at a very young age where he stayed until he was hired by Pillsbury in 1967.  He made several moves around the Midwest as he was promoted through various companies.  In 1983, he made his last move which brought him to St. Charles, MO.  David retired in 2008, after a 50+ year career in the grocery/food brokerage industry.  The last 23 years of his career were as an owner/partner of Alexander, Koetting, Poole and Buerhle Brokerage Company (AKPB).

He excelled in sports throughout his life, with golf and bowling being the most prominent during his adulthood.  He had 5 hole-in-ones playing golf and multiple 300 games and 3 – 800 series’ while bowling.  He will be greatly missed not only by his large family but the multitude of friends and acquaintances whose lives he had touched over the years.
