Dylan Edward Gittemeier, of Saint Peters, MO, passed away on Saturday August 26, 2017, at the age of 10. Beloved son of John and Katie Gittemeier; dearest brother of Gavin Gittemeier; cherished grandson of John Gittemeier, Jill (Larry) Buerke, Edward, and Beverly Delaney; Dylan is also survived by his uncles Jeff (Stephanie) Gittemeier, James Gittemeier, Joe Gittemeier, Edward Delaney II, and his treasured dog and companion, Bella. He was also a dear cousin and friend to many.  Preceded in death by his paternal and maternal great-grandparents.

Dylan was a student at Lewis & Clark Elementary School and wanted to be a police officer when he grew up. He was always full of energy, he practiced Tae Kwan Do, and played video games, basketball, and football with his friends in the neighborhood. He was a huge Carolina Panthers and Cam Newton fan.  Dylan enjoyed riding his bike, rollerblading and building forts. He loved sitting around the fire pit and barbecues in the backyard with his friends and family. Dylan was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Memorial donations may be made to CHADS Coalition or Megan Meier Foundation.

I didn’t know Dylan personally (other than to meet him briefly when he was about 4 years old and came up to PW to see you when you were Shaun’s nurse). He has a smile that lights up his whole face and doesn’t stop! All too sadly he has been taken home to be with our heavenly Father at far far too young of an age! No Mother should have to go through what you are going through. My heart breaks for you and the pain I can only imagine you are suffering! Know that Dylan will always be a part of you and with you! We are praying for some peace and comfort for you and your family during this very difficult time! God Bless!

Losing a child has to be the worst loss a parent can endure. We ask God, “Why did this happen, why did you take my baby from me?” Only God knows and only God can grant you the peace and understanding from this. I am praying for peace from the Holy Spirit to guide you and somehow understand all of this. I hope your faith grows stronger and somehow God touches more lives as a result of your loss.

candle 7I do not know your family or your son Dylan but when I saw this notice I had to tell you that your son and your family are in my thoughts and sincere and heart-felt prayers. May Jesus wrap His loving and protective arms around you and I know the He sent His angels to escort Dylan to his heavenly father to sit beside Him for all eternity. I can’t venture to know the pain and heartbreak you are enduring at this time. Just try to keep your faith that God had a different plan for your precious son, he’ll be looking lovingly down from Heaven upon you and he’s forever in the arms of Our Lord. May Dylan soar with the Angels.

My husband Steve and I are friends of Dylan’s grandfather, John. We were so saddened to hear of Dylan’s death. We know how much John loves his family and grandsons, and our hearts go out to John and his family. May God be with all of you during this most difficult time.
