Doreen L. Lewis

March 27, 1957 — April 30, 2021

Doreen L. Lewis (nee Straw), of Wentzville, MO, passed away Friday, April 30, 2021 at the age of 64. Beloved wife of Terry D. Lewis; cherished daughter of Lois Straw and the late Ralph Straw; devoted mother of Heather (Matthew) McRoy and Michael (Alison) Ballmer; stepmother of Amy Reckamp and Nicholas Lewis; loving grandmother of Bryce, Brecken, and Rebecca; step-grandmother of Joe, Vince, Nina, and Dominic; dear sister of David Straw. Doreen is also survived by numerous extended family and friends.

Doreen was a member of Church of the Shepherd and Volunteers in Medicine (VIM), Lake St. Louis. She began her nursing career in 1979 and the years she spent in the ICU at St. Joe’s West and with VIM were her favorite. Doreen enjoyed crocheting, baking and delivering cookies, she was known as the cookie lady. Traveling with her husband Terry was a great joy, they especially enjoyed going on cruises. Doreen loved dogs, but their therapy dog, Buddy, held a special place in her heart. Most of all, Doreen loved her grandchildren dearly, and they were her top priority. Doreen was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

In lieu of flowers Doreen’s request is that memorials may be made in her name to St. Louis Ovarian Cancer Awareness (SLOCA), 12015 Manchester Road, Suite 130, St. Louis, Missouri, Crossroads Clinic, Volunteers in Medicine, 10714 Veterans Memorial Parkway, Lake St. Louis, Missouri 63367 or Church of the Shepherd, 1601 Woodstone Drive, St. Charles, Missouri 63304.
