Donald J. Buchanan

Donald J. Buchanan of Wright City, MO (formerly of Spanish Lake), passed away Sunday, August 21, 2016, at the age of 86. Loving husband of the late Louise M. Buchanan (nee: Cook); beloved son of the late Daniel J. and Elizabeth Buchanan; loving father of Ken (Kim) Buchanan, Sherry (Alan) Schreiter, and the late Keith Buchanan; cherished grandfather of Erin (Bryan) Georger, Amy (Adam) Armstrong, Donald Buchanan, Samantha Schreiter, Albert Schreiter; treasured great-grandfather of Luke and Nick Georger, and Brayden, Chase, and Mackenzie Armstrong; dear brother of William Buchanan and Grace Urquart. He is preceded in death by his siblings, Arthur, Eddie, and Frazier Buchanan. Donald is also survived by his beloved furry friends, Dewfus and Molly.

Donald proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, and on a ship with his father as a Merchant Marine in Canada. He loved fishing, golfing, and barbecuing. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of the Alton Eagles. He was known as “Mr. B” to many friends. Donald was a big Cardinals fan. He was dearly loved and will be missed by all who knew him.
