Daniel R. Davis

December 3, 1952 — November 1, 2019

Daniel R. Davis, of Saint Charles, Missouri, passed away Friday, November 1, 2019 at the age of 66.  Loving husband of 36 years to Kathleen Davis; beloved son of Freida Dixon and the late Raymond Davis; devoted father of Cassandra Davis, Drew (Carissa) Davis and Becky (Kenny) Shapiro; loving “Papa” of Micah Shapiro, Elizabeth Shapiro, Josiah Shapiro, Naomi Shapiro, Olivia Davis, Maverick Davis, and Thea Davis; dear brother of Scotty (Carrie) Davis, the late Rebecca Miller, and brother-in-law of Ken Miller; dearest uncle, cousin, nephew, brother-in-law, and friend to many.

Daniel proudly and honorably served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War.  He retired after more than 30 years as Director of Flight Standards for the Federal Aviation Administration.  He was a true navigator through and through and would talk “Pilot” with anyone familiar with the sky.

Dan loved to stay in the Word and was inspired when capturing the sunrise and sunsets with his wife, Kathee.  He was a member of The Crossing in St. Peters, and always looked forward to worshiping his Savior with others.  He was a faithful man of God who loved people well.  Dan cherished spending time with his church family while he served at the Coffee Bar, facilitating classes, and spending time in his small group.

Dan enjoyed traveling and going camping with his family.  As an outdoorsman, he loved nature, going skiing, kayaking, hiking, fishing, and biking, which were just some of ways he stayed in tune with God’s creation.  He liked dancing with his bride and singing, especially to his favorite classics, like the Beach Boys, Eagles, and The Beatles.  He also enjoyed listening to some of the soft music of Josh Groban and Michael Buble while sitting with his wife.  Dan was a big Sci-Fi and action movie fan, with his favorites ranging from Star Trek and Star Wars to X-Men and the Jason Bourne series.  However, he also had a heart for The Sound of Music, which he loved to watch with Kathee; they even made a trip to visit the Von Trapp House in Vermont.

Dan was a wonderful family man and loved his grandkids, and they were equally obsessed with him.  He had a magical gift of getting them to sleep, as he would whisper his special Indian chant to them.   Daniel was a gentleman and was always looking out for others.  He was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests donations for a service dog for Dan's wife, Kathee.  Getting a service dog has been a focus of Dan's for some time now, and this will assist his family in making that a reality, as well as providing some much needed support for Kathee moving forward.  They have set up a way to give towards this, in honor of Dan.  Please visit Remembering Daniel Davis at Go Fund Me.
