Charles Chuza Ames, Jr.

Charles Chuza Ames, Jr., of Saint Peters, MO, passed away Monday, January 13, 2020 at the age of 77. Loving husband of Vergie L. Ames; beloved son of the late Charles C. Ames, Sr. and Nettie O. Monk; devoted father of Pauletta (Dennis, Sr.) Carrington, Carl (Stephanie) Ames, Charles C. Ames III, Andrew B. (Precious) Ames, Thomas I. (Tonya) Ames, Jessica (Floyd) White, and Inez I. Sebree (fiancé Michael); cherished grandfather of 24 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren; dear brother of Rachel Moore, Simeon (Lucinda) Ames, Sr., Absalom (Daisey) Ames, Mary (Isaac) Pearson, Evangeline Monk, Natalie (James) Anderson, and Robert Lucas; beloved uncle, cousin, brother-in-law, and friend to many. Charles is also preceded in death by his daughter, Ruth I. Ames; brother, John Phillip Ames; and sister, Kezia Boyd.

Charles was an Ordained Minister of The Supreme Council of the House of Jacob of the United States of America, Inc. He proudly served in the United States Navy and Retired from the United States Army Reserve. Charles loved to sing church music. He was a fun-loving family man who was always the center of attention. Charles absolutely adored his family and was a devoted loving husband of 50 years to his wife, Vergie. He was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
