Robert E. “Bob” Gilmore Sr. of St. Charles, MO, passed away Wednesday, October 31, 2018, at the age of 83. Beloved husband of the late Ann Gilmore. Cherished father of Carrie (Steve) Burnam, Robert Gilmore Jr., and Mary (Glen) Cole; loving grandfather of William (Sarah), Annie (Brett), Alyssa (Joshua), Christopher (Judy), Robert (Lyndsay), Audrey, and Alannah (Keith); treasured great-grandfather of Sophia, Trevor, Karsten, Kinley, Aurora, and Adelyn; and dear brother of Joseph, Dorothy, Lydia, Joyce, and Mattie Dawn.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Walter Ray Gilmore and Eloise Burton; and brothers, James, Charles, Walter and Timothy Gilmore.
Bob proudly served his country proudly in the US Air Force during the Korean War. He continued in the Air Force National Guard and retired in 1980. He then dedicated more than 29 years working for McDonnell Douglas before retiring in 1994. Bob met his "baby doll" Ann in 1954 while on leave from the military and married his beloved Ann on Christmas Eve that same year. He was a longtime parishioner of St. Joseph Catholic Church -Cottleville and a member of the Knights of Columbus #7198.
Some of his hobbies included bowling, hunting, fishing and oil painting. His greatest joy came when he was able to spend time with his family, especially his grandchildren, creating long lasting and cherished memories to carry with them always. He will be remembered as a kind, loving and generous man with a great sense of humor. Bob will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
