Barbara Elston

October 5, 1934 — February 3, 2019

Barbara Elston, of Lake St. Louis, died Sunday Feb. 3, 2019.  She was 84.  Barbara Dewey was born on October 5th, 1934 in Somerset House, London England.  As an adult, Barbara applied and was accepted into the London Metropolitan Police.  After some time she was promoted to detective and met Peter (who was also in the police force) during a training course.  Neither wanted to give up the force but due to varied duty schedules they agreed the best option was to both resign and move to Canada in 1960.  In 1971 Andrew was born with Philip shortly after in 1972.  In their spare time Barbara and Peter began to breed and show Basset Hounds.  At one time they owned the Top Basset in Canada.  Barbara loved animals, had numerous dogs and in recent years was “mom” to Chloe, an adorable Pekinese.

After some time in Canada they decided to move to St. Louis in 1979.  Barbara got her real estate license and started working for Gundaker Realtors in Town and Country.   She enjoyed her time in Missouri and became a longtime Cardinals fan.  After moving to Lake St. Louis she and Peter spent a lot of time playing bridge and other card games with their friends.  Barbara volunteered at the Progress West Auxiliary and was the treasurer of her homeowners association.   She also loved being around her grandchildren and spending time with family and friends.

Barbara is preceded in death by her husband Peter Elston and survived by Andrew and his wife, Julie; Philip and his wife Natalie; and 4 grandchildren; Blake, Brooke, Taylor and Kennedy.
