Barbara “Barbie” Ann Wiatt

Barbara "Barbie" Ann Wiatt became a Christmas angel when she died on December 25, 2020, reuniting with her husband, Harley Wiatt. Barbie was born and raised in the city of St. Louis and graduated from St. Mark Catholic High School. She is survived by her children, Pamela Wheat, Nancy (Kenneth) Hemeon, Joanne (John) Conklin, Sandy (Brian) Feldkamp, and Mary (Jim) Betts; her grandchildren, John (Michelle) Myers, Julie Myers, and Joshua Wiatt; and her sister Geraldine (the late Edward) Buehler.
Barbie was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Harley N. Wiatt; her daughter, Patricia Wiatt; her parents, George and Ethel McCartney; and her siblings, George (Audrey) McCartney, Virginia McCartney, and Mary Jane (Emil) Lambrechts.
Barbie and Harley first met through a connection of their shared love of ballroom dancing (which they both taught at the time) and married on July 12, 1952. In their younger years together, she and Harley were part of the McDonnell Douglas Motorcycle Club and through that membership they made many lasting friendships and fantastic memories. Throughout her life she kept up with a number of fascinating hobbies. She volunteered her time as a Girl Scout Leader, took up quilting projects, and she was an avid reader with her favorites being great mysteries. Genealogy interested Barbie as well, and over the years her research filled out her family tree and history. She was fond of traveling and her trips all over the country with her loved ones led to many unforgettable experiences.
Barbie was a wonderful mother and one of the most optimistic people anybody could ever meet. Her positive spirit was a source of strength her loved ones constantly relied upon and her life motto could best be summed up with the words of the Serenity Prayer, “God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, courage to change the things I can, and wisdom to know the difference.” She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
The family is grateful to the staff at Bristol Manor in Wentzville. Memorial contributions in Barbie’s name may be made to the Salvation Army or your Local Meals on Wheels Program.
