Arnold Dwayne Dorrell, of Saint Charles, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, May 14, 2019 at the age of 85. Loving husband of Florence "Dottie" D. Dorrell; beloved son of the late Melvin Arnold  and Bernice J. Dorrell; devoted father of Dianne (Tom) Bizelli, Denise (Doug) Kreighbaum, and Douglas (Angie) Dorrell; cherished grandfather of Shannon (Brett) Thomas, Brad (Sarah) Nickols, Nicole (Jeff) Jachura, Katie (Jonathan) Sperry, Kelsea (Daniel) Bedford, Abigail (Joey) Fisher, Shayne (Shelby) Dorrell, Courtney (Josh) Luitjohan, and Kaitlyn (Matt) Mueller; treasured great-grandfather of 13; brother of Marlene (Kenny) Hanf and the late Phyllis (Jim) Ledbetter; and dear uncle and friend to many.

Arnie proudly served his country in the United States Navy. He spent much of his military service in Alaska, a fitting location for Arnie, as he had a great love for the outdoors. Arnie also enjoyed hunting and cherished his memories of camping with his children. With a kind and generous heart, Arnie never hesitated to help those in need. He was loved by many and will be deeply missed.

Memorials may be made in Arnold 's name to First St. Charles United Methodist Church.

Arnie was a good friend to our entire family. He was always cheerful and ready to help any who needed it.

He and Dottie and Doug were so generous with their time and labor to help us build our cabin at Mark Twain Lake years ago. Their help was so welcome and appreciated.

We are so sorry for this loss to his family; He will be sorely missed.

We have 55 yrs of memories with Arnie and Dorothy…Bible study group, decades of after church lunches, vacation travels, our kids growing up together, and sharing in worship and ministry together. It hurts to loose Arnie to our earthly lives. He was the Lord’s servant in his own quiet way and touched many, many lives.

candle 2A dear and precious friend has entered the presence of our Lord. I know he will be welcomed by those he has enjoyed many years of fellowship with here on earth. Dottie and Arnie were our travel buddies on many vacations and mission trips where we shared love, laughter and worship in service to our King! I am sure he has now heard these words from our Savior…..”Well done good and faithful servant!”

I was blessed to be one of the pastors in the Dorrell’s lives nearly 20 years ago. He was a joy to know and to witness the heartfelt ways this gentle man served Jesus by loving others. I pray God’s peace and comfort upon all who loved him so well. What a life to celebrate!

candle 7I can just see Arnie’s “smile” as he entered Heaven’s gates. What a great picture of him … This is “Arnie.” It’s all been said … What a wonderful human being he was … kind, gentle, generous, helpful, … but foremost, above, all … Godly. I was honored to be a table parent with him for several years at the Wednesday Night Live Program at FUMC. The kids loved him. So kind and gentle … positive and lovable. Arnie … You have your wings now … Fly High … and Dottie, I know you will miss your life partner so vey much. I’m so sorry, but God has promised … You will see him again! Much Love to You and Your Family.

Our prayers and sincerest condolences to the wonderful Dorrell Family. The Good Lord certainly welcomed him home with a big hug and I’m not sure who must of had the larger smile… Arnie Dorrell had that ‘can do’ attitude, was always a willing hand to assist anyone, any time… and a wonderful heart-felt smile that graced so many lives. Thank you, Dorrell family, for continuing the fine traditions. He will be missed by many, and won’t be forgotten. God Bless your family. I wish they had a special “sign the guestbook” section here on this program, where we could light a firecracker (candles are nice too)… and celebrate a wonderful life, well lived, in grand style. On Fourth of July, 2019, I’ll be lighting a few big ones, with my kids / family, in his honor. Thank you, Arnie !!!
