Podhorn, Richard “Rich,” of New Melle, MO, died on Thursday, September 1, 2016, at the age of 71. Beloved husband of nine years to Judy Podhorn; cherished son of the late John and Farol Podhorn; devoted father of Rick (Laure Yeager) Podhorn and Deborah Podhorn; loving step-father of Jeff (Donna) Brengard, Chris (Tabitha) Freeman, and Anne (Ron Todd) Freeman; treasured grandfather of Benjamin, Christopher, Daniel, Amanda, Emily, Alex, Lexy, Ben, Mike, and Claire; dear great-grandfather of Mirah; loving brother of Linda (Norman) Thomas, Phyllis (Kenneth) Podhorn-Zerr, and the late John (Kathy) Podhorn; treasured brother-in-law of Jim (Kathy) Nelson, Carolyn (David) Hazzard, and the late Joanne (Myron) Mattson; dear son-in-law of Audrey Nolan. He is also survived by many dear friends, nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Richard was also preceded in death by his loving wife of 39 years, Patricia “Tisha” Podhorn.
Richard proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. This duty gave him a greater respect for first responders and our military. Rich went on to work at McDonnell Douglas for many years and also ran a dump truck company with his son, Rick. Rich also was a volunteer fireman in Cottleville for 10 years. In his spare time, Rich enjoyed traveling to National Parks and hunting. Rich was a caring, kind, and patient man. Rich’s greatest joy was spending time with his family. He was dearly loved and will be missed by all who knew him.
