Klopfer, Richard L., of Saint Charles, MO, died on Sunday, May 8, 2016, at the age of 75. Devoted father of Kay (Neal) Parker, Corri (Michael) Meinert, and Stephanie (Timothy) Klopfer; dear step-father of Terry (Mike) Boul; Richard shared his last 2 years with his sweet love Terri Brittingham; cherished grandfather of Tiffany (Rob), Daniel (Sonya), Sarah, Austin (Jaclyn), Holly, and Philip; treasured great-grandfather Zander, Siah, Kendrick, Kalin, and Evelyn; and dear sister of Evelyn Wagner; and brother-in-law of Arnold Dewey. He is preceded in death by his first wife of 39 years, Lou Ann who died on December 26, 1999; 2nd wife Velma Ruth Friese, who died in 2013; and sisters Jean Dewey and Shirley Klopfer.
Richard was a graduate of Washington University and received his Master’s degree from Webster University. Richard began working for McDonnell Douglas in 1964 as an Engineer, which would later become Boeing. He ended his career as a Manager of Manufacturing Research and Development retiring in 1999. Richard became a member of Lion’s Club in 1988. He was a member of Hazelwood, Downtown St. Louis, O’Fallon, and St. Charles Missouri Lions Clubs. He served as District Governor of Lions Club International District 26-A2 in 2003-2004. He also served in numerous cabinet offices through the years until 2016. As a long time Lion’s Member he knew the tremendous importance of Saving Sight. At the time of his death he donated his own eyes. Richard was also a member of the American Welding Society. Thru the society and Boeing, he traveled to Russia and Kiev.
